Learning difficulties - Charlie's Story
No-one could fail to be deeply moved by the story of 9 year old Charlie from Wilmslow.
As a toddler, he had poor attention and often seemed to be in a world of his own.
As Charlie entered school, his behaviour continued to be a cause for concern. "His writing was totally illegible" says his mum, Kerry "and his communication and concentration weren't improving at all"
Hearing about BIRD from another mum at Charlie's school, Kerry and Charlie's dad, Dale, decided to give us a try.
"Looking back it was the best decision we ever made" Kerry says.
Despite finding the treatment routine hard to cope with at first, the family persevered and six months into his treatment, it was clear that Charlie was making amazing advances.
"It was an absolute transformation" says Kerry. His work at school improved, he was much more attentive and would actually have conversations with us!"
Charlie continues to make progress at BIRD and is now doing very well at school.
