'Fundraising Appeal'

When three year-old Cameron (pictured right) had a temper tantrum, his mother and father were delighted!

This is because Cameron had never been able to communicate at all with his parents, Jane & Phil.  In fact, they were told by Doctors that Cameron would never progress at all from the equivalent of a three-month old baby - but he has.  His first ever tantrum was a positive sign of the progress he is making under BIRD’S guidance.

Cameron is far from unique.  In fact, he is one of thousands of children helped by BIRD since its formation in 1982.

This last quarter of a century of quietly transforming lives has gone largely unnoticed, but those people with a direct connection to BIRD through family or friends, know that the changes this small charity has been able to bring about can, at times, be nothing short of miraculous.

For the families of these children, what seemed an impossible dream just a short time ago, became a reality due, purely and simply, to the dedication of the BIRD staff and of the loving families or carers who refused to give up.

Ken Bell knows through his own experience what changes BIRD can make to a human life.  A few months ago following a stroke, Ken became severely disabled.  He could barely walk.  Now, he is making steady progress by the day – and his walking has improved more than his family thought possible.  No-one really knows how far Ken can progress from here, but because he found BIRD, he at least has the hope that his recovery can continue.

BIRD brings renewed possibilities to people who had given up the idea that any improvement could be made.  This is why BIRD’s work is so important.

Please don’t let this opportunity to help BIRD transform lives pass you by. Even small, regular donations to the BIRD charity can make a big difference to our work as we are a very small organisation and our overheads are kept to an absolute minimum.
